Sermon Recap
With this Sunday’s service focused on a time of corporate worship, Pastor Matt opened the service by teaching what worship is and what happens when we worship. For starters, corporate worship isn’t something that starts at a Sunday service. All week God is moving in our lives and we gather together to celebrate what he’s done. If we don’t recognize that, we will treat worship as nothing more than an event. In fact, scripture tells us that sometimes God disapproves of our worship, calling it just “noise.” However, when we worship in spirit and in truth, many things happen. First, God prepares our hearts. In the divine order of our lives, praise precedes presence. Secondly, we are filled with the Holy Spirit. Mankind’s fall into darkness is on account of one thing, when we cease to worship God. This is true of satan, Adam, and us as well. When we worship, we empty ourselves so God can pour himself in. Thirdly, we enter into his depths. Worship without the expectation to meet God is useless. We do not worship a distant God, but one who draws near when we draw near to him. Lastly, when we worship, our enemies are scattered. It’s easy to forget we are in a spiritual battle. Our focus shouldn’t be so much on fighting our enemy, but praising our savior!

Discussion Questions
Have you ever lived in a rhythm where you felt like you had to survive the week just to get to Sunday? How is it different to thrive during the week and celebrate on Sunday?
While worship benefits us, it is not for us. Ezekiel 44:15 describes the priestly duty as to minister unto the Lord. How does this shift change the way you approach a time of worship?
Satan and Adam’s fall is the result of their ceasing to worship. How does this make you want to emphasize the role of worship in your own life?
Worship has the ability to bring us into the depths of God. Often times he will speak to us or reveal things. Share a time when God spoke to you during a time of worship.
We are in a spiritual battle. How do you think worship scatters our enemies? How can worship be used as a tool to stop the enemies schemes?
Prayer
God, may our entire lives be a living sacrifice to you. May we worship you in Spirit and in truth. Heavenly Father, we humble ourselves at your feet and enthrone you with our praises. Fill us with your Holy Spirit that we might live a life worthy of the calling we have received.
Life Application
Everyone worships whatever they value most. Does your life communicate to others that you worship Jesus? Let your worship be a testimony to others.
Remember that you are constantly in a spiritual battle. Use times of worship to keep your guard up and remain spiritually ready.
God wants to speak to you. Enter into his depths with private times of worship.
