Recording Your Video

Setting up your shot

  1. Turn your phone vertical

    1. Using a tripod, prop it up, or hold steady in hand

    2. Most flattering shots are when the lens is eye-level

  2. Make sure the mic on the bottom of your phone isn’t covered

  3. Sit in a well-lit area

    1. Tip: Windows are great for lighting up faces (but avoid a window behind you- it will make the shot darker). Overhead lights can add shadows under the eyes, so avoid sitting right under a direct light.

  4. Remove any distractions from the background of your shot

  5. Remove any sounds/audio in the background

  6. Wear a neutral shirt- please no logos or large text

Recording your video

  1. Place the prompts (pg1) within your line of sight

  2. Follow timeframes; It’s vital that these stay within :60 seconds

  3. Look at the camera lens while speaking

    1. Avoid watching yourself on the screen

    2. Avoid starting with your eyes down or glancing at prompts in an obvious way while speaking

    3. This makes the viewer feel like you’re making eye contact with them
